I’m the founder of ZenloPet, where we work with pet brands on private-label and custom supplements for dogs and cats. My work covers a lot of the decisions that happen before a product ever reaches the shelf: choosing the right format, working through a formula, sampling, ingredient sourcing, packaging, pricing and figuring out a production quantity that makes sense for the brand. I spend a lot of time working with smaller and growing brands, so I’ve seen how different things look when you’re launching 500 units instead of 50,000. A good idea still has to work at a realistic cost, survive production and leave enough room for the brand to actually sell it.
