Simge Topaloglu PhD

Dr. Simge Topaloglu is a cognitive scientist and Harvard-trained psycholinguist based in New York City. She recently completed her PhD at Harvard, where she worked with hundreds of children across four countries - the US, China, Turkey, and India - to answer one deceptively simple question: does the language you grow up speaking change how you learn to count? Along the way she's taught Harvard students about language and thought, organized academic seminar series, and run a Swedish conversation club. She speaks four languages herself, which may or may not have something to do with her obsession with how the human mind handles words and numbers.
