I started in web development in 2018 with a computer applications degree and drifted into SEO the way many developers do, by breaking things and having to figure out why rankings moved. Seven years later, that mix of code and search is still my whole job. Since 2022, I have focused mostly on answer engine optimization, the work of getting brands cited and recommended by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot, alongside the classic organic search that still drives most pipelines.
