Ryan Wilson

My name is Ryan Wilson, and I never want my disability to go away. Sure, I’ve broken 60 bones; I’ve had multiple surgeries; and I almost died at the age of 25. But truthfully, I’m glad all of those happened. Growing up, I didn’t know what life would be like with a disability. I figured it would be different; I just wasn’t sure if I would be able to live out my massive dreams. I attended the University of Illinois, and I met some of the best wheelchair racers in the world. Their shoulders were huge, yet their hearts were even bigger. They showed me that I could do anything. There may be challenges, but I can accomplish my goals. It changed my life.
