I grew up a financial advisor's kid. Some of my earliest memories are from the dinner table — my dad telling stories about families he'd protected. That was my picture of money: real people, real problems, someone in their corner. Nearly fifty years in, he's still at it. When I told him I wanted in, he didn't hand me a job. "Go get your rear end kicked in the real world first," he said, "then we can talk." So I did — starting in the back office at J.P. Morgan and working my way onto the trading floor.
