Jess Simms

Jess Simms is a freelance writer and editor from Pittsburgh, PA. They're the current Managing Editor for After Happy Hour Review and a co-founder of Scribble House, a literary organization connecting writers in Western Pennsylvania with resources and community. A former barista, avid traveler, conlanger, and mythology nerd, they write both fiction and nonfiction on a slew of topics, and have had stories and articles published in Atlas Obscura, Mythaxis, SLAB, Mental Floss, and several other outlets and literary journals. They are the author of the flash fiction chapbook Cryptid Bits (Last-Picked Books, 2024) and the micro-chap Shapeshifter Diaries (Rinky Dink Press, 2023) and blog (mostly) weekly at write.as/nerd-for-hire.
